Who is "we" and what is the answer? To me, this is, mathematically, a
"limit" problem. When engineered, we can define the "ends" such as: 
"Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof" --Eccl. vii.

I am not sure why the second question is more interesting. If you choose
"Internet=end" then your first sentence answers the question, I guess.
