I've run a number of email lists over the last few years and have not seen any spammer subscribes, even with public archives. Subscriber-only postings, with non-subscriber posts held for approval, reduces the spam rate to under 1%. Without it, the spam rate would be close to 90%, in my observations. Hilarie
