Hi all,

we have made available the following two technical reports for comments:

A. Dell'Aera, L. A. Grieco and S. Mascolo
"Linux 2.4 Implementation of Westwood+ TCP with rate-halving: A Performance
Evaluation over the Internet",
Tech. Rep. No. 08/03/S, submitted for publication on May 2003.

L. A. Grieco and S. Mascolo
"Performance Comparison of Reno, Vegas and Westwood+ TCP Congestion Control"
,
Tech. Rep. No. 07/03/S, submitted for publication o July 2002.

The ns-2 modules of TCP Westwood+ are available at

http://www-ictserv.poliba.it/mascolo/tcp%20westwood/modules.htm

To summarize, TCP Westwood+ proposes to set the congestion window and the
slow start threshold after a congestion episode by using an e2e estimate of
the available bandwidth obtained by filtering the stream of ACK packets. The
setting substitutes the "blind" by half window reduction of standard
AIMD algorithms with an adaptive setting that takes into account the state
of the network.
