Rajesh Krishnan, James P.G. Sterbenz, Wesley M. Eddy, Craig Partridge
and Mark Allman, "Explicit transport error notification (ETEN) for
error-prone wireless and satellite networks" in Computer Networks,
Volume 46, Issue 3, 22 October 2004, Pages 343-362.
Some members of this list have heard one or the other of the authors of
this paper talk about some of the results.
Speaking purely for myself, I think the most important contribution in the
paper is to place some bounds on how well TCP can recover from error-related
loss in a perfect information environment (where TCP knows immediately
when an error occurs anywhere in the path). It sets an upper bound on
how well one can do and that's a useful bound to know.
