I don't have more detailed data points, but this is what I heard earlier
too (I'll see if I can get more concrete data). Besides, how can we
ensure that LANs will stick to a uniform 48-bit address space for the
foreseeable future? I read that IEEE is already discouraging use of
48-bit identifiers in favor of EUI-64.
I think it is worth investigating the feasibility and cost of inheriting
that aspect of "routers" for this "hybrid".
