Hello All:

I am looking at 802.1ah draft 3.4 and I see that section 9.5 clearly defines the Service Instance Tag but I do not see anywhere in the spec that clearly defines the format of the Backbone VLAN Tag (aka Service VLAN Tag). I do see someone posted their interpretation of the frame format back in December (see below). Is this still what people expect to be the final frame format?

Below is my stab at putting into words what is described from the post in Decemeber. Please ignire the values I put in for MAC addresses.

Backbone VLAN Tag
Backbone Destination MAC (hex) = 12:34:56:00:00:01
Backbone Source MAC (hex) = 12:34:56:00:00:02
EtherType (hex) = 8100
Backbone VLAN Tag (hex) = 0101 (user defined)
EtherType (hex) = 88a8
Instance VLAN Tag
Priority (bits) = 000
Drop Eligible (bit) = 0
Res1 (bits) = 00
Res2 (bits) = 00
Service ID (bits) = 000000000000000000000000
Customer Tag
Customer Destination MAC (hex) = ab:cd:ef:00:00:11
Customer Source MAC (hex) = ab:cd:ef:00:00:12
Ethertype (hex) = 88b5
