Except that MPLS was, indeed, initially promoted by many as a means to
boost network performance. That not everyone thought this way, and
the assertion turned out to be false, doesn't change the facts. No
need to sweep under the rug the intial, somewhat misguided enthusiasm
expressed for MPLS.
